Smoke and CO detector installation
We install smoke and carbon monoxide detectors for homes in Central NJ. Hardwired units, interconnected units, and sealed battery models. Bruce has done this work since 1988. When you call, you get Bruce. No subcontractors.
These detectors save lives. A smoke alarm warns you of fire. A CO alarm warns you of carbon monoxide, a gas you cannot see or smell. We install them right and we place them where they work best.
Hardwired and interconnected
Hardwired detectors run on your home power. They have a battery backup too. So they keep working if the power goes out.
Interconnected means they all talk to each other. When one goes off, they all go off. So if a fire starts in the basement, the alarm in the bedroom wakes you up. That extra warning time matters. We wire them so they all work as one.
Smoke and CO in one
Some units do both jobs. They sense smoke and carbon monoxide in one device. That means fewer units on your ceiling and less to keep up with. We can install combo units or separate ones. Tell us what you want.
NJ resale rules
This part matters if you sell a home in NJ. The state requires a smoke, CO, and fire extinguisher cert before you sell. No cert, no sale. The fire official will not pass the home without it.
The rules cover where alarms go and how many you need. They also cover the fire extinguisher. We know these rules. We set up your home to pass. We make sure the alarms are in the right spots and work right.
Selling your home? Do not wait until the last minute. Call us early so you pass the first time.
Placement done right
Where you put a detector matters. Put them wrong and they may not warn you in time. Here is where they go.
- One on every level of the home
- One in each bedroom
- One outside each sleeping area
- CO alarms near bedrooms and gas appliances
Sealed battery options
Old alarms used a battery you had to swap. People forget. Then the alarm chirps at 2 in the morning. A sealed 10 year battery unit fixes that. The battery lasts the life of the alarm. No swaps, no chirps.
Where hardwiring is hard to run, sealed battery units are a smart choice. We can do hardwired, sealed battery, or a mix. We pick what fits your home.
Replacing old units
Detectors do not last forever. Most need to be replaced after 10 years. An old alarm may not sense a fire fast enough. If yours are old, swap them out. We take down the old units and put up new ones. We test each one before we leave.
We are bonded and insured. NJ License #15918.
